Demolition squad descends on stalls on Outer Ring Road – PHOTOS
A bulldozer descended on stalls built along Outer Ring Road on Friday as state agencies moved to reclaim road reserves.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) together with Kenya power, the National Youth Service, Kenya police and county government led the operation to clear structures deemed to have encroached on road reserves.
The stalls demolished included a roofed structure recently erected by Embakasi West MP George Theuri.
“I had not opened my shop today but arrived to find my stall demolished with no notice,” said Cecilia a fruits trade.
“We fail to understand why the demolitions have to happen without notice or options for relocation,” said khadija a shoe trader.
The state agencies are keen on ensuring the new-look Outer Ring Road is not encroached on by traders.
