Diamond records collabo with Ne-Yo in coup over Ali Kiba

Tanzania musician Diamond Platnumz managed to stage a coup against regional musicians when he secured a prized collabo with American R&B star Ne-Yo.

The song, which was recorded in Kenya Thursday, was fully paid for by Diamond, sources say. The Tanzanian announced the cooperation to his more than 900,000 Instagram followers.

“Thanks alot my Brother @neyo and the Whole Compound Crew had a great Session, and it was realy nice working with you…can’t wait for the World to hear this Hit Song!! @Diamondplatnumz ft @neyo ….. Cc @sheddyclever @Compoundu @thecorpshow @Jullianl #AfricaTotheWorld (sic),” wrote Diamond.

He attached a montage of pictures of the two in the studio with their handlers.

Ne-Yo is in Kenya to record for the Coke Studio Africa. He went to hang out at Tamasha, Hurlingham on Monday night and performed at Ignition club in Westlands on Thursday night.

Earlier in the week, the Nairobi News exclusively reported how Diamond flew to Kenya to get a photo opportunity with American.

The Tanzanian jetted in on Monday and booked himself at the Hemingways Hotel, in Mbagathi Ridge, Nairobi, the same hotel where Ne-Yo stayed.

Sources said Diamond was seeking to upstage his compatriot and music rival Ali Kiba performed for Coke Studio Africa alongside Ne-Yo.

However, our mole says the show organizers had issued clear instructions to Ne-Yo’s security detail to block any attempts for photo op by Diamond, which appears to have come a cropper.
