Diamond snubs EA artistes during Afrimma Awards
The Africa Music Magazine Awards, better known as Afrimma Awards, were held in Dallas, Texas, last weekend, where Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz emerged tops after bagging three trophies.
However, according to sources close to East African artistes who were present at the awards, Diamond snubbed them for Nigerian and South African counterparts.
Some of the East African artistes present at the awards included Tanzania’s Ommy Dimpoz and Vanessa Mdee, Kenya’s Jaguar and Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo, as well as radio and TV presenters.
“From Tanzania, Diamond did not win alone,” said our source. “Ommy Dimpoz and Vanessa Mdee bagged an award each. The plan was for the three of them to have one homecoming party as Tanzanians, but Diamond refused and switched his flights.”
Ommy and Vanessa arrived in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, while Diamond chose to jet back on Thursday, where his management had also organised fans to welcome him at the airport.
On his social media pages, Diamond was mostly seen with Nigerian artistes like K Cee, Bracket and AKA.
