Discos, live bands banned during exam period

Bondo Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Samson Diero Akatch has banned live bands and discos played at social places for a month in a bid to create a conducive environment for students sitting their national examinations.

Mr Akatch said that the ban will be in force until the end of November when the candidates shall have finished their exams.

The DCC, who was speaking in Bondo town during the Mashujaa Day celebrations, said that he had already written letters to the management of all entertainment joints in the sub-county informing them of the ban.

He stated that the move is aimed at curbing the habit of some students sneaking out of school to attend discos and at the same time deal with noise pollution from such entertainment spots that is likely to interfere with the candidate’s concentration during the exam period.

The administrator added that the ban also includes music played at funerals during night vigils with all assistant chiefs in the region ordered to arrest those who violate the ban.
