Late Swedish DJ Avicii’s funeral shrouded in secrecy
The family of Swedish DJ Avicii, who died last month in Oman, in a suspected case of suicide, has said the funeral of the renowned global superstar will be private affair.
The 28-year-old, whose real name was Tim Bergling, was found dead on April 20 while on vacation in Oman.
In a statement to various media outlets the familly said:
“There have been many inquiries regarding the funeral arrangements for Tim Bergling, known by music fans as Avicii. The Bergling family has now confirmed that the funeral will be private, in the presence of the people who were closest to Tim. They kindly ask media to respect this. There is no additional information forthcoming.”
Police in the Gulf sultanate at the time said that there was no indication of foul play.
Avicii had long spoken of his problems with alcoholism and his struggles as an introvert in adapting to the hard-partying DJ lifestyle.
He stunned fans in 2016 by retiring from touring at the age of just 26, although he later returned to the studio.
Avicii will be remembered for several hit songs such as Wake Me Up, Levels, The nights among other hits.
