DJ Pierra’s new song fails to impress fans

DJ Pierra Makena this week made a debut in the music world with a rendition of a Taarab song Vidonge, but which she has christened Wape.

In the video, the well-endowed Pierra gyrates to the beats and is also shown at a DJ’s unit. A huge chunk of the R-Kay-produced song rendered using auto tune.

But the high-flying deejay, who has metamorphosed from an actress to a radio presenter now, a DJ and now singer, appears not to have impressed her fan base, if the comments on the song on YouTube are anything to go by.

Catherine Mwangi commented: “LMAO… Nooooooooo! Mahn I blame KOT for making me view this!!Bad bad bad.”

Mr. Majani wrote: “I can’t help but feel this lady is being forced on us by her admirers in the entertainment industry. Little talent but I guess a big ass is all you need to make it in Kenya.”

‘BAD TALENT’

But Sam Arum was perhaps the meanest, commenting: “Nice video…. also bad talent. Maybe this money should have been contributed to a children’s home instead.”

And James Kimuli had words of wisdom: “Hey I like your spirit, no need for me to kill your dreams by commenting bad stuff. But I can help you. Ask these vocalists how to control your vocals. Sauti Sol’s Bien-Aime Baraza or Ian Mbugua of TPF. Keep it up Pierra.”

Mike Ithuggie weighed in: “Eeh.. don’t give up your day job. Nice figure though.”

Gitonga Kelvin wrote: “The vocals definitely need improvement. Nice curves though, but how about some originality with the dance moves… they scream Shakira and Rihanna.”

The song was originally done by Tanzania’s Malika (Asha Abdow Suleiman).
