Doctors reveal cause of IEBC official’s death – VIDEO
Doctors say the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision (IEBC) official who recently collapsed and died last week succumbed to ‘natural courses’
As per a post-morterm report conducted by family pathologist Ayub Macharia, Geoffrey Gitobu died owing to a clot in his pulmonary vein.
“He was anaemic. The death was caused by a clot in the pulmonary vein,” the report reads in part.
Mr. Gitobu’s death was confirmed by Kirinyaga IEBC boss Ms Jane Gitonga.
Gitonga said the deceased had taken a short break to go and interact with his family in Nanyuki and decided to visit the local IEBC offices.
It is while he was within the premises of the electoral body that he collapsed and was rushed to Cottage Hospital located in Nanyuki where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Nairobi News has established that Mr Gitobu’s job description included ordering for a re-tallying of the Kirinyaga gubernatorial votes during the August 9, 2022 polls.

This is after Ms Wangui Ngirici, one of the candidates in the race, accused the deceased of rigging her in favor of Ms Ann Waiguru who is the Kirinyaga Governor.
Authorities have dismissed claims the deceased was killed.
