DP Rigathi Gachagua meets Kiambu leaders amid impeachment reports

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is set to meet Kiambu ward representatives at his official Karen residence in a bid to arrest a plot to impeach Governor Kimani Wamatangi.

The first term governor is on the spot amid accusations by his area lawmakers and MCAs he was acting like a lone ranger and never engaged them on development matters.

Top on the list of accusations is that the governor has never handed the names of the Chief officers to the assembly for approval.

“The Chief Officers are working but they are yet to be approved by the county assembly raising questions on what had really transpired,” said Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa.

On matters of Health, Senator Karungo accused the governor of making agreements with Mauritius Insurance firm (MUA) instead of letting the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to go on insuring county workers.

The senator said that he was very glad that DP Gachagua had made the decision to hold a crisis meeting and discuss the matter with the MCAs and the senator before things could go out of hand.

MPs including Alice Ng’ang’a of Thika Town, Gathoni Wamuchomba of Githunguri, Gabriel Kagombe of Gatundu South and Githua Wamacukuru of Kabete had accused the Governor of excluding them when it comes to making vital decisions.

However, the governor has maintained that there was no problem amongst the elected leaders and he was always willing to work with all of them.

He said that it was time all the leaders joined hands and ensure that they develop the whole county instead of trading accusations against each other.

“It will be well if we work together other than blaming each other. Let us ensure that we develop the whole county and help our people,” he said.
