Nine-month-old baby drowns as mother unhangs clothes


A nine-month-old baby drowned in a bucket of water on Wednesday afternoon as her mother was out picking clothes from a clothing line.

According to the mother, the child fell asleep and she took her to bed then went outside where she had hanged some clothes to dry. Upon returning to the house she found the child had fallen inside a 20 liter bucket of water.

The baby was rushed to Marura Nursing home in Mathare area 3 but she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

In another incident, an unidentified man was found dead in a drainage trench along Jogoo Road on Wednesday morning.

FOUND DEAD

Police suspect the man in his early 20’s fell inside the trench during Tuesday evening heavy downpour that caught many city residents unaware.

According to the police the body had no visible injuries and he had no identification on him. The body was moved to the City Mortuary.

In Eastleigh, a 44-year-old man, who had gone missing on Monday, was found dead inside his car on Wednesday evening.

Police also found a charcoal burner pot inside the locked vehicle, raising suspicion that the man died of suffocation. His body was taken to the City Mortuary.
