Duale asks teachers in North eastern region to quit Knut
Majority leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale has asked teachers in North eastern Kenya who are members of Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) to reconsider their relationship with the giant teachers’ union.
Speaking in Garissa Constituency on Saturday while giving out bursary from CDF kitty, Duale said the Knut leadership has clearly shown that it discriminates against teachers working in the region.
Duale told off Knut Secretary General Wilson Sossion whom he accused of playing cheap politics with the teachers in question by inciting them not resume duty in their respective school in Garissa, Wajir and Mandera counties.
“Presidents Uhuru Kenyatta is in charge of all Kenyans and he can’t say anything that injures any Kenyan wherever they might be but here is someone (Sossion) who is discriminating some teachers. I am urging all teachers from the North eastern region to reconsider their membership to Knut,” said Duale.
He welcomed Teachers Service Commission’s (TSC) move to advertise positions for more than 1000 teachers and told school head teachers from the three counties to seek replacement of teachers who will not report to work by Monday.
