Duale defends ‘mama yako’ remarks
Parliament’s majority leader Aden Duale insists he sees nothing wrong with his infamous “hii pesa si ya mama yako” (this money doesn’t belong to your mother) remarks.
The high ranking Jubilee politician has in the past attracted public criticism for the remark which he separately directed to Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto and Kenya National Union of Teachers Secretary General Wilson Sossion.
Duale argues that the statement has been lost in translation to those who feel offended.
“There is nothing wrong with saying that.. In Coast and even North Eastern where I come from, making this remark simply implies this property doesn’t belong to you. Simple,” said Duale while appearing on a national television talk show.
He also confirmed that the Government was set to lift the dusk to dawn curfew in Mandera and Lamu counties this week ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
