Eastmatt to move into Tuskys Daima

Eastmatt Supermarket, a retail chain, is to open its latest branch on Tom Mboya Street towards the end of next week.

The retail chain which has six outlets will at the beginning of March open its seventh branch to occupy the space next to the Fire Station. The building used to house Tuskys Supermarket Daima branch.

It is claimed Tuskys opted out due to a lease dispute with the owner of the building.

After the fallout in December, Eastmatt began to renovate the building in readiness for business.

Like Tuskys and Naivas, Eastmatt is a family owned business.

It began its operations in 1990 in Mau Narok as Eastleigh Mattresses and it now has branches in Eastleigh Section III, Mfangano Street, River Road and Kitengela.

Outside the city, it has branches in Mwea and Tala.

The supermarket has moved to occupy areas near bus stations to attract more clients.

The taking over of the space comes barely weeks after Tuskys, in its aggressive expansion plans, bought three Ukwala Supermarket branches, including Ronald Ngala and Tom Mboya.

Tuskys will also open another branch in June after completion of Milele Mall in Ngong.

According to Willy Kimani, the marketing manager Naivas Supermarket, the chain store plans to open new branches in Syokimau, Nyeri and Kisumu within the first quarter of the year.

Uchumi will open branches in Ukunda, Maua and Juja.
