Elani’s Maureen Kunga is the newest advocate in town

Maureen Kunga has become the second member of the high flying Afro pop band Elani to be admitted to the bar.

Maureen has followed in the footsteps of her band team member, Bryan Chweya, after being admitted to bar to become an advocate of the High Court on Wednesday.

Bryan, also an advocate, was admitted to the bar in 2014.

In a ceremony which was graced by Chief Justice Dr Willy Mutunga, the singer was among 114 lawyers admitted to the bar as Advocates of the High Court.

NEW ADVOCATES

During an earlier interview with Nairobi News, Maureen said she was looking forward to being admitted to the bar.

Maureen took to Instagram to post her photos dressed in her ceremonial dress in the company of her band members Bryan and Wambui Ngugi.

Dr Mutunga, in what has become his trademark witty Sheng remarks, congratulated all the new advocates.

“New Advocates admitted to the Bar. Na sio ile bar munaoijua (not the other bar you know). Congratulations to the 114 Advocates on their admission to the Roll of Advocates,” the CJ tweeted.
