Mr Fedha revealed the prosecution will on October 30, 2023, make an application at a High Court to subject the suspect to a mental assessment to ascertain if she is fit to stand murder trial.

On October 14, 2023, Police Constable Lilian Biwott, attached to the Kenya Bureau of Standards Eldoret branch allegedly shot her husband twelve times in the chest and head following a long-standing family feud.

The incident was alleged to have been triggered by a quarrel between the suspect and her husband, the father of their three children.

The shooting took place in their rental house at Kimumu estate on the outskirts of Eldoret town.

She is said to have reported on night duty before dashing back to her house where she engaged in squabbles with her estranged husband.

The suspect is suspected to have used the official gun she was given by her seniors after she was assigned for official night duties.

A neighbour to the couple who declined to be named said the couple had been embroiled in a family feud since they relocated to the estate.

“Since they relocated here a year- ago, the couple has been fighting now and then over what we suspect as infidelity,” said one of the shocked neighbours.

The neighbours said that they heard gunshots after a night-long bitter exchange between the couple during the 11 pm incident.

“We were used to their never-ending domestic squabbles but on Saturday night, we were shocked when the officer shot her husband in a fit of anger killing him on the spot with a gun,” said the neighbour.
