Embassava sacco rebrands fleet in wake of stripping saga
Embassava sacco, one of Nairobi’s popular public transport fleet, has unveiled a new swanky look for its minibuses.
The sacco has discarded its trademark red, white and blue colours and introduced a shade of green and graffiti on its bodyworks.
“We considered these changes to offer a new feel to our customers. Using the same colours over a period of time is boring in this City where trends emerge within days. Nothing else has changed however, the fares remain the same,” Justin Kariuki, one of the fleet managers told Nairobi News.
Protesters had in November marched from Uhuru Park in Nairobi to Embassava Sacco bus stage on Accra Road, where touts were filmed ripping off a woman’s clothes.
Sacco officials however denied that the culprits are their employees and blamed layabouts for the incident.
Some reports also suggest the Embassava sacco management was “forced” into implementing the changes in the wake of competition from a new fleet dubbed “Royal bus” that has invaded its routes.
Embassava Sacco is the dominant player in the Donholm and Embakassi routes in Eastlands.
The fleet’s new vehicles have already created a buzz after hitting the streets in the past few weeks.
Embassava Sacco matatus are licensed to ply the Mombasa Road – Embakassi, Donholm – Pipeline, Savannah – Jacaranda and Jogoo Road routes in Nairobi.
