Eric Omondi breaks silence over death of his younger brother, Fred Omondi

Comedian Eric Omondi is mourning the sudden death of his younger brother, Fred Odhiambo Omondi, who passed away in a tragic road accident on Saturday morning.

Fred Omondi, a former comedian on the popular Churchill Show, was involved in a fatal collision on Kagundo Road around 6 am.

According to a police report filed at Buruburu station, the accident occurred near the Caltex Petrol station when a bodaboda carrying Fred collided head-on with a speeding bus.

Authorities stated that the bus was traveling towards Nairobi CBD from Kayole, while the bodaboda was heading in the opposite direction and was on the wrong side of the road.

The collision resulted in Fred Omondi’s immediate death at the scene.

“The accident happened near Caltex Petrol station on Kagundo Road,” the police report noted.

It further detailed that the bodaboda rider sustained serious injuries, including multiple fractures to both legs and arms.

“The rider suffered serious multiple injuries on both right legs and fractures on both hands. He was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital for treatment and the body of the deceased is lying at the said hospital mortuary pending postmortem,” the police report read.

Fred Omondi had hosted an event at Captains Lounge and Grill along Mombasa Road on Friday night.

He was on his way home early Saturday morning to prepare for another show scheduled later in Meru at the BVB Lounge.

Eric Omondi, who shared a close bond with his brother, expressed his grief on social media.

Posting a poignant video with Fred, Eric briefly captioned it: “Go well brother💔🕊 @fredomondi_.”

The news of Fred’s untimely death has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, with friends and fellow celebrities flooding social media to offer their condolences and share memories of performing with him.

Fred Omondi was a Performing Artist and the founder, Big Baba Entertainment.
