Eric Omondi says he will hold a grudge against Sauti Sol’s Bien forever

By Beth Nyambura December 21st, 2022 2 min read

Sauti Sol’s lead vocalist and self-styled bald man, Bien Aime Barasa, will have to brace himself because his nemesis, comedian Eric Omondi has revealed that he will keep wreaking havoc in his world.

This is after the funny man took the front line critiquing Sauti Sol over the Sol Fest failures.

The all-male-boy band received a backlash from a section of their fans who complained about them keeping their fans waiting and performing late.

The boy band has since owned up to the shortcomings and, through their management, promised to plan better.

Commenting on his prolonged beef with Bien, Eric said he does not look forward to making peace with him.

“I will never meet and make peace with him. Akae Rongai, nikae town,” he said.

The former Churchill Show comedian has vowed to keep pushing Kenyan music come 2023.

He has criticised Kenyan music by calling musicians to pull up their socks.

Eric, at some point, even suggested Kenyan musicians don’t work hard and lack the passion for pushing their music.

He has also been against international artists performing in Kenya.

Speaking exclusively to Nairobi News, the self-proclaimed president of comedy said it would be messy if artists won’t ‘wake up’.

“It was just a warm up, so in 2023, it is going to be messy. I will start canning these Kenyan artistes to wake up. We cannot be talking about the same thing for two years,” he said.

Eric also praised the Sol Fest concert that took place over the weekend.

According to Eric, Sol Fest was well organised, and he said the security and the performances were top-notch.

However, Eric recommended that Sauti Sol not invite other artists when holding such an event.

Eric said the band should just do Sauti Sol and their signees, BenSol and Nviiri.

“The show had started at 4pm which was okay but keeping fans waiting for Sauti Sol for 10 hours was not necessary,” he said.

“Their next show, Sauti Sol should start performing at 8 pm. It was wrong to see even some artistes who were not in the line up performing.”

During this festive season, Eric will spend his Christmas day with his mum and attend his upcoming shows after Christmas.
