Esther Passaris trolled after ‘gay’ blonde moment

Nairobi businesswoman Esther Passaris had a blonde moment online Thursday when she confused a post by Daily Nation about American sprinter Tyson Gay for homosexual.

The Daily Nation had tweeted a story about the athlete’s doping scandal and had even added a hashtag with his full name just in case one had no idea who Gay was.

The post read, “Drug-cheat Gay costs USA Olympic relay silver http://bit.ly/1A2hKQi #TysonGay #doping”

Immediately, a curious Passaris (@EstherPassaris) responded with a comment asking, “@dailynation what’s gay got to do with it?” Her tweet is still available on the thread.

Twitter users who saw the post immediately inundated her with corrections.

A user @nicanorsabula explained to Passaris, “Tihihihi @EstherPassaris the athlete’s name is Tyson Gay. That’s what @dailynation were referring to.”

And @ciruukiniti stated: “@EstherPassaris @dailynation Gay’s the dude’s name.”

The first user who replied to the tweet stated, “@dailynation Obviously there’s something running in those veins. The jugular arteries are visibly showing, even through his shirt!!!”

The comment was in reference to the photo accompanying the post that depicted Gay on the track with veins protruding from his well-built body.

But Passaris is not alone. In February, Tanzanian musician Vanessa Mdee thought she was hanging out with horses instead of elephants.

She posted a picture on Instagram with elephant calves captioned “call me horse whisperer”. She later corrected it.
And in 2013, Kenyan socialite Huddah Monroe was trolled when she tweeted a condolence message to late actor Paul Walker but attached a picture of American rapper Paul Wall.
