Gospel singer David Wonder over the weekend launched his album titled ‘Mwanzo’.

The former EMB’s signee exclusively told Nairobi News that he had featured top gospel singers in his album.

“My album has 12 songs with four collaborations, with Moji Short Baba, Jabidii, Guardian Angel and kids from my block called ‘Hakuna Matata,” he said.

David Wonder also explained his long silence in the music scene revealing that he has been on doctor-mandated bed rest.

He said 2022 was a heavy and slow year for him after he was diagnosed with a condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

DVT occurs when a blood clot (thrombus) forms in one or more of the deep veins in the body, usually in the legs. Deep vein thrombosis can cause leg pain or swelling and may lead to complications such as pulmonary embolism.

A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot gets stuck in an artery in the lung, blocking blood flow to part of the lung.

Wonder explained that he had to take it slow. “The doctors had instructed that I go on bed rest till I get better,” he said.

Wonder has been on bed rest for seven months.

During his Saturday launch, he said it is the first time he was stepping out after a very long time.

“Aside from the series of hospital visits, this will be the first time I am stepping out in like seven months. It has not been an easy year, especially in terms of finance. The disease has really drained me,” he added.

“I have a blood clot and I have struggled with it since May this year and that is why I have not been singing, going to shows or just being in the public eye.”

Wonder said he had thoughts of cancelling his album launch since he is sick but his plans were to release it before the end of the year.

“I believe it was meant to happen like this, I have a feeling that once I’m done with this album I’ll be back to normal and I’ll give thanks,” he said.

The doctors are still monitoring his condition. DVT usually occurs in a larger vein that runs through the muscles of the calf and the thigh.

It can also occur in the pelvis or abdomen.

David Wonder quit leaving Bahati’s Eastlands Most Beloved (EMB) Records in 2019.

According to David Wonder, Bahati gave him a choice and he opted to leave EMB in a bid to build his brand.
