Ex-news anchor Hussein Mohamed lands a lucrative job in Ruto’s government


Former Citizen TV anchor Hussein Mohamed has landed a plum job as the State House spokesperson.

Hussein was serving as the Head of Communications for President William Ruto’s Campaign Secretariat.

In a statement to the newsrooms on Friday 14, Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua confirmed that Hussein is the new State House spokesperson.

Hussein is now replacing Kanze Dena who served in the position during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure.

Hussein has worked with nine county governments in a bid to support their communication functions and structures.

He has worked with the United Nations and many other organisations.

David Mugonyi, who served as the spokesperson of William Ruto when he was the Deputy President between 2013 and 2022, will now lead the Presidential Communication Service.

Other appointments include Felix Koskei who will serve as the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service, Josphat Nanok as the Deputy Chief of Staff.

David Ndii is the Chairperson of the President Council of Economic Advisors, while Augustine Cheruiyot will serve as the Senior Advisor and Head of Economic Transformation Secretariat.

On the other hand, Kamau Thugge will serve as the new Senior Advisor and Head of Fiscal Affairs and Budget Policy and Mohammed Hassan has been appointed as the Member, the President’s Council of Economic Advisor.

Nancy Laibuni is the Associate Member, President’s Council of Economic Advisor while Katoo Ole Metito will serve as the Statehouse Comptroller.
