EXCLUSIVE – Jamal Rohosafi: I sent ‘bitter’ Amira the divorce papers on Whatsapp

Businessman Jamal Rohosafi has rubbished claims that his ex-wife Amira divorced him.

In an interview with Nairobi News Jamal insisted he was the one that filed for divorce.

Not done, the businessman says he served his outspoken ex-wife the divorce papers via WhatsApp in November 2022.

“I divorced her not that she divorced me. Those are two different statements,” explained Jamal.

The two got married in 2009, after which Jamal said he separated from her in 2014 for what he termed as being ‘toxic.

“She was toxic at that time. She then left me and went to Dubai for six years to work as a maid and came back with nothing,” he said.

Jamal said his wife’s brother begged him to return her.

“I bought her a house and furnished the house and at that time nobody knew her. It was my ex-girlfriend who made her famous,” he said.

On Sunday night, Amira had a Q and A session with her fan which she termed as ‘being petty’.

A fan demanded she provides proof that the two are officially divorced and not just a statement she makes.

“Mumeachana legally?” They questioned her.

She replied with a screenshot of the divorce decree issued by the courts.

The divorce has been issued at the Kadhi Courts Upper Hill, according to some of the details we can see in the court document.

The screenshot showed that the divorce happened in 2022.

She also talked about staying in a toxic and violent marriage with the ‘worst person’ because of her kids.

“I held onto a marriage that was already broken, he was the worst person, I have ever met and I loathe him with a passion, I will never forgive him and even if I die today I would want him to bury me or even mourn me I left because I had to be happy with myself.”

Jamal now says Amira is taking advantage of his silence.

“I have been so quiet. I have told my family I want to stay away. I have done my mistakes like any other man, but she is not an angel,” he said.

Jamal said he has since blocked her several times because she sends her insults on WhatsApp.

“I have all the screenshots. There is nothing that she has not shown or told me in this life,” he said.

Jamal also accused his ex-wife of being ‘too loose’.

“Sevearal times, she has brought different men in my house. She was even drinking alcohol in my house and I was informed by my neigbours and my parents about that. ”

Asked if he was violent like Amira claimed, Jamal said she would have reported to the police.

“Before I served her with the divorce letter, I went to the house with sheikhs and showed them the reason I wanted to divorce her, alcohol was in the fridge and some other things I can’t talk about,” he said.

Jamal said he had stopped going home until when the neighbours told him men were seen coming there.
“I packed her things in two lorries and told her to come for them. I then sent her the divorce letter via WhatsApp. That was in November 2022.”

He said his ex-wife is bitter since he had withdrawn from sending her upkeep money.

“After three months after the divorce, why is she saying that I was violent?” he said.

Jamal added: “She should also stop sending my friends to me to discuss with me her things. I do not need anything from her.

I have been paying for her upkeep for the last three months after the divorce according to Islamic law and now that the three months are over, I am free to do whatever I want and that is why she is coming to look for relevance on social media.”
Nairobi News reached out to Amira but she did not respond.
