Exclusive: Janet Mbugua turns to God


“I don’t want people to start seeing me as one overly Holy Christian, but what I know is that I am on a journey with God,” Media personality Janet Mbugua told Nairobi News.

Just as it is written in the Holy Bible in Hebrews 12:1, ‘Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer, and perfecter of our faith,’ Janet says that she is grateful that God is in her life.

“I do believe in God and I am grateful that God is in my life,” she explained.

Expounding on her faith in God, the TV girl says everyone has their own relationship with God.

Just like Paul in Philippians 4:11-13, ‘I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength,’ she adds, while explaining how key ir is to present a grateful heart before his maker every morning.

“When I wake up I thank God for the good and the bad, it gives me a sense of balance in my life so that I am able to get through the day. I don’t know about contentment, but I am very grateful.”

Speaking about her difficult moments, she says: “I have had difficult seasons. Sometimes my difficult days are seen by the world so all say it’s hard. But this still creates the desire in me to press on.”

However, in her life journey, she maintains that having a thankful heart makes her remain present.

“Even when I am having a hard season, I am always grateful.”

To journey with Jesus is a vision of the Christian life as a journey of transformation. It leads from life under the Lordship of culture to a life of companionship with God. To journey with Jesus means living like an itinerant or sojourner. It means living simply and not being bound by possessions.

The former Citizen TV employee had in an earlier interview revealed to Nairobi News that she has been alcohol-free since December 2021, a decision she said she consciously made and that she has no regrets so far.
