Exclusive: Kidero’s wife apologises for torn sock

The wife to Nairobi Governor Dr Susan Mboya has apologised to Nairobians for her husband’s wardrobe gaffe after he was pictured in a local daily wearing a torn sock.

Ms Mboya on Tuesday took full responsibility for the mistake.

“As his wife I am terribly embarrassed that I allowed this to happen and take full responsibility for this unfortunate oversight,” she told Nairobi News.

Governor  Evans Kidero was pictured raising his foot and exposing a torn sock while attending the launch of Premiere Beauty Spa in Westlands over the weekend.

According to his wife, the Governor leaves the house for work early in the morning before she can approve what he is wearing.

“As many Nairobians know, my husband leaves the house by 5.30 a.m. each day, sometimes before I see what he has worn,” she said.

She vowed that the oversight will not be repeated in future.

“I am putting stricter measures in place to ensure that this unfortunate incident is never repeated,” she said.

This is not the first time that a wife of a prominent person is issuing a public apology over wardrobe malfunction.

The Late Josphine Watiri, wife to the late Minister for Environment John Michuki, also issued an apology for a similar gaffe.

Minister Michuki was pictured wearing a torn sock in March 2005.
