Renowned radio personality Mwalimu Rachel opened up about a touching moment of support from her dear friend Mwende Macharia during a challenging phase in her career.

Mwalimu Rachel d revealed that Mwende’s compassionate gesture of prayer provided solace during a tumultuous period when she faced backlash on X platform over allegations related to her management of a music group.

Speaking to Nairobi News at Mwende Macharia’s 37th birthday celebration, Mwalimu Rachel recounted a difficult morning when her name suddenly appeared among the top trends on the platform.

“It was a low point in my career, one that I would never wish to relive,” she shared.

While many of her acquaintances remained silent during this trying time, Mwalimu Rachel vividly remembered receiving an unexpected call from Mwende, offering her support and solace through prayer.

“Mwende is not just a sister but also a dear friend. Even when things were incredibly tough for me a few years ago, Mwende reached out. She called me and expressed her desire to pray with me,” Mwalimu Rachel emotionally said.

“Tears welled up in my eyes because she knew what was in my heart. She understood my deep desire to help the music group I was managing, and she recognized the pain I was going through. Even before I could explain my situation, she reassured me that no explanation was needed and proceeded to pray for me.”

Reflecting on their initial encounter, Mwalimu Rachel described Mwende Macharia as a confident and inspiring journalist.

“The first time I laid eyes on Mwende was at a media briefing. I often share this story because it left an indelible mark on me. She exuded confidence, and that image remains etched in my memory,” Mwalimu Rachel shared.

She went on to acknowledge the profound influence Mwende had on her own self-confidence, saying, “Mwende inspired me to find my own confidence, and I began following in her footsteps. Over the years, we’ve collaborated on various projects, and she has become a role model to me in many aspects. Despite working in the same industry, we have never seen each other as competitors. We’ve learned to be sisters and support each other wholeheartedly. Mwende has opened doors of opportunity in my life, and for that, I celebrate her today. She is truly incredible.”

Mwende Macharia’s birthday took place at Wow Beverages Kenya on Saturday, 24 September.
