Exclusive: Nyashinski aims for music immortality as his legacy
Nyashinski, born Nyamari Ongegu, is a highly acclaimed Kenyan musician who first gained recognition as a member of the popular music group Kleptomaniax before they disbanded.
Since embarking on a successful solo career, he has captured the hearts of fans with his distinctive musical style.
In an exclusive interview with Nairobi News, the talented artist, known for hits like ‘Mungu Pekee’, opened up about his aspirations for a lasting musical legacy.
Nyashinski expressed his desire to create music that will transcend his own lifetime and give listeners a timeless experience.

Nyashinski says he is focused on leaving a musical legacy that transcends the present moment.
With a deep sense of purpose, Nyashinski’s prayer is to deliver music that resonates with people long after he is gone, leaving an indelible mark on the industry and touching the lives of listeners for years to come.
“Personally, I want to leave a legacy and music that lasts beyond me. And that means my lyrics have to be inspired by more than just the environment, they have to be truths that are lived by generations to come. That’s my prayer,” he told Nairobi News.
Asked what he wished he had done differently, the father of two said he believes everything happens
at the right time and for a reason.
“I do the best I can. Being the best I can be and giving my fans the best there is,” he said.

When asked about his upcoming music projects, he said, “Music? Watch this space – something is coming your way sooner than you think.
Nyashinski, currently the brand ambassador for the Tecno Camon 20 range, said that the partnership with Tecno was seamless because of the commonalities and values between the two companies.
Describing himself as a movement, Nyashinski compared himself to Tecno and the Camon in particular, highlighting their shared determination never to settle and always strive for greatness.
“They stop at nothing – they’re just like me,” he said.
When asked about the possibility of seeing him in music videos featuring the Camon 20, Nyashinski assured that the device would play a significant role in various aspects of his life and music.
Nyashinksi also promised his fans that he has a new song coming out soon.
