EXCLUSIVE: Stephen Letoo – Housewarming event was not political move
Media personality Stephen Letoo has refuted claims his housewarming and thanksgiving events have been political rallies in disguise.
In an exclusive interview with Nairobi News, the journalist clarified that these occasions should not be misconstrued as rallies.
In October of last year, 2023, the Citizen TV-affiliated reporter hosted a grand housewarming event in his hometown of Enooretet in Kilgoris, Narok County, which saw the attendance of a section of political leaders from within and outside the region.
According to the political affairs reporter, these events also serve as fundraisers to assist the needy.
“I have not been holding rallies; they have been my housewarming and thanksgiving events, along with several other fundraising drives for those in need,” he emphasized.
The thanksgiving ceremony held in October 2023 was named “Letoo Day”.
The event, which brought together political leaders, friends, family members, and colleagues from the media fraternity, saw Mr Letoo announce via his social media accounts that he slaughtered five bulls for the occasion.
Some sitting governors were also in attendance.
“I hosted my friends, family, and leaders, led by Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu, and later Kisii Governor Simba Arati, at my thanksgiving housewarming ceremony,” Mr Letoo shared.
The event, held on October 13, 2023, was briefly interrupted by an armed group of warriors.
However, calm was restored by officers from the General Service Unit (GSU), who had been deployed to the Nkararo-Enooretet border in Kilgoris Constituency, Narok County.
Mr Letoo, self-declared chair of the Men’s Conference, has also been convening meetings for men.
This year, on February 14, Valentine’s Day, just like 2023, he organized a men’s meeting at Uhuru Park Garden, using the forum to address challenges facing men in the country.
“The challenges facing men, such as serious mental health issues resulting from financial pressure, make the Men’s Conference crucial for enabling them to open up. They rarely discuss the problems they face with each other,” he told Nairobi News.
This year’s Men’s Conference, however, focused on the safety of boda boda riders.
The conference, themed ‘Men and Safety,’ also featured parallel events in various parts of the country.
Mr Letoo expressed concern over the high number of riders lost in road accidents, according to data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA)
