Exclusive: Stivo Simple Boy admits struggling with life expenses
Renowned as Kibra’s finest, Stephen Otieno Adera, better known as Stivo Simple Boy, recently opened up about the challenges he faces as a celebrity.
Stivo revealed that fame has hindered his ability to use public transportation to visit his family in the countryside.
In an interview with Nairobi News, the singer expressed his longing to see his mother and siblings, stating that his celebrity status makes it challenging to use a matatu for the journey.
He disclosed that he has not seen his family since January 2023 due to financial constraints, preventing him from affording private transportation to his hometown.
“I have not seen my mother for a while. When you become a celebrity, you can’t use a matatu to go to shagz, and that has been the biggest challenge. Since I buried my dad in January 2023, I have not gone back to see my mother. We only talk over the phone. They miss me, but I don’t have any means to go see them. I have to see them soon,” said Stivo.
Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has extended support to the artist, promising him a house amidst claims of financial struggles.
Stivo Simple Boy acknowledged the challenges in his life despite his popularity, emphasising the importance of perseverance.
“Life is all about struggles, but we have to keep going. Musically, I am doing well. I am still releasing songs, and I thank my fans for the support. Financially, I am still struggling. The little I get, I survive with it. I go for shows when I am called,” he explained.
Salasya provided support by paying Stivo’s rent for four months and assisting with household items.
The artist also acknowledged support from Embakasi East MP, Mheshimiwa Babu Owino.
To his fans, Stivo Simple Boy expressed gratitude for the love received and urged them to continue supporting his music.
He acknowledged that with guidance and support, he can produce good music and contribute positively to the industry.
