Explosions, gunfire in a building on Riverside Drive
There has been an explosion and gunfire at a building located on Riverside Drive in Chiromo.
The attack happened on 14 Riverside, the compound that houses Dusit 2 hotel and the Commission on Revenue Allocation offices.
The attack happened sometime at 3:15pm. First it was a loud bang, possibly a bomb before gun shots rented the air.
A colleague who is inside the besieged building said: “They (attackers) have been combing the building and shooting aimlessly. It’s too scary to imagine. I’m inside the building which is under attack. It’s real guys. Had gone to interview CRA guys. I’m too scared for my life.”
Police have been deployed to Westlands after the gunshots rent the air around Dusit Hotel. Police say a team from the General Service Unit has been dispatched.
Smoke could be seen coming from the affected building.
Some of the people in the nearby buildings told the Nation that they are holed up in their offices.
