Exposed: Love messages sent to female politician by a young man during campaigns

A female politician in Vihiga County who contested for the Woman Representative position has opened up how during the campaign period a young man old enough to be her son sent her love messages.

Ms Winnie Majani posted on her official Facebook account narrating how the man confessed how much he loved her and wanted a romantic relationship that could lead to marriage with her.

She narrated how she woke up one morning and found a trail of messages and poems on her WhatsApp which had been sent by the man.

“He was expressing the way he loves me dearly, wanting to look me in the eyes and confess how he and I were a couple baked in heaven and that I’m his weakness.

His rhyme and tone, you could tell, is yearning to be Okot p’ Bitek. There was nothing wrong in having our kienyeji poet brewed in Vihiga anyway,” part of the post read.

She said that she did not become harsh to the man who kept on confessing his love and affection for the politician.

According to her, her motherly nature stopped her from being cruel to the secret admirer who was out to try his luck.

“My motherly instincts warned me from being subjective and unreasonably cruel. I knew this was my son trying to experiment with the ways of the world. I knew this was my son trying his luck.

I knew this was my son trying to get rich quickly because there was blackmail looming had I been boxed,” she said.

Ms Majani said that she took her time and realised that the lady was acting for someone and that he had clear instructions on how he was supposed to reach out to her.

She said that she was sure the motives of the love sick ‘Ben Ten’ – a young man – were ill-intended and all he wanted to achieve is get the messages with the female politician and spread them all over social media sites.

“Vihiga people were to be fed on how their Woman Representative candidate wore a fair virtue tag.”
