Fake doctors in Aga Khan Hospital jobs scam arrested
Two people suspected to be part of a cartel that has been defrauding members of the public with fake job offers at the Aga Khan Hospital have been arrested.
Police say Dancan Mayabi Mukhuye alias Dr George Odhiambo and his accomplice, Mr Wycliffe Mutisya have been masquerading as doctors at the hospital.
They have been asking jobless nurses, via social media, to send them money to facilitate the processing of documents that will secure them jobs at the Hospital, police said.
Parklands Divisional Criminal Investigations Officer David Chebii said the two are part of a bigger racket, and that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations is looking for others.
‘LOOKING FOR OTHER SUSPECTS’
“We have started investigations and we hope members of the public who have fallen victim to the cartels will help us with information. Meanwhile, we are looking for the other suspects, Mr Chebii said.
Two months ago, over 450 people from across the country who were duped by the cartel stormed the Parklands police station to demand for police to arrest the culprits.
They alleged that they had paid Sh2,500 each to the cartel that claimed to be employees of the hospital.
They also said that the ‘doctors’ had invited them to Nairobi for interviews.
The hospital’s safety and security manager, Robert Tack had earlier cautioned members of the public against the fraudsters and called on victims to record statements at the DCI office -Central Police Station in Nairobi.
“Over the last year we have been chasing this group. On Friday, with the information we received and the help of CID, the residence of the main cartel member was raided and he and another accomplice were arrested,” Mr Tack said in a statement on Monday.
