A quack who was arrested for practising medicine without medical qualifications has been arraigned before a law court.

Mr Ronald Melly was arrested on Monday at the Kenya Medical and Practitioners Board offices, where he had been tricked to believe he was going to renew “permanent” medical licence.

He was later taken to Nairobi Area Traffic headquarters for interrogation by officers from Special Crime Prevention Unit.

Kibera senior resident magistrate Jane Kamau ordered that Mr Melly be remanded at Capitol Hill Police Station for two days as investigations continue. The investigators had asked for three days.

The detectives will visit the University of Nairobi in the course of their investigations. The case will be mentioned on Friday when the accused will be formally charged.
