WATCH: Family recounts last moments and words of former CS George Magoha
The last moments of former Education CS Prof George Magoha, who died on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, can now be revealed.
According to the family, the former CS had a premonition about his death, and he even asked his wife, Barbara Odudu Magoha, to call his only son Michael and daughter-in-law so that he could have a word with them.
Dr Walter Mwanda, who was so close to Prof Magoha and who was allowed to speak to the media said that he had collapsed a number of times on Tuesday but the son could save him.
“There is also information the former CS issued to his wife which should be shared to the public and this will be communicated later,” he said.
Prof Magoha had even told his wife that he was dying, but he would die as a happy and fulfilled man because he achieved all he wanted at 71.
Dr Mwanda is a senior doctor at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and he was at work when he received the distress call.
It is then that he asked another doctor to go on checking the patient and rushed to the former CS’s home in Lavington.
The deceased who was in the process of planning his brother’s burial is said to have collapsed as Dr Mwanda was attending to him.
“He collapsed and was successfully revived by his son, who is a medical doctor. However, shortly after being revived, he collapsed again while en route to the casualty section,” he reported
When that happened, they decided to carry him to his son’s car and rushed him to Nairobi Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.
The family later said that doctors had informed them that he died of a cardiac arrest, and the body was taken to the Lee Funeral Home.
His death was confirmed to Nairobi News by his wife Dr Barbara Odudu Magoha.
“Yes, it is true that he is no more,” his wife told this reporter.
