Police in Bungoma county have launched a manhunt for a man who reportedly beat his 15-year-old daughter to death after spending the night at her boyfriend’s house.

Reports indicate that the deceased, a Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations (KCPE) candidate whose identity is yet to be revealed, died on Monday evening after she was given a thorough beating by her father.

Michael Simiyu, a neighbour told Nairobi News that the irate father savagely assaulted the teenager when she came back home after spending the night at her boyfriend’s place.

SERIOUS INJURIES

“It was in the afternoon when the father and his wife tied up their daughter as they administered the beating. Apparently, the two parents were angered by fears that their daughter could end up pregnant before completing her education,” explained the neighbour.

The girl is reported to have gone missing from home on Sunday evening prompting her parents to mount a desperate search for her.

She would only resurface on Monday afternoon after the KCPE results had been announced.

“The father used sticks to inflict serious injuries on the girl’s abdomen,” Bungoma North OCPD, Mr Stephen Mwoni told Nairobi News.

ON THE RUN

Mwoni said the girl was rushed to Ndalu Health Center but succumbed to her injuries. Her body was subsequently moved to Kiminini Cottage Mortuary.

The mother was arrested and taken to Ndalu Police Station in Bungoma county as the police launched a search for the father who ran way after committing the crime.

“We have the mother in custody and interrogating her to establish what actually went wrong. The father is on the run but hopefully the law will soon catch up with him,” the police boss said.
