FBI says all gunmen at Westgate were killed
The Westgate Mall attack riddle deepened on Saturday when the American Federal Bureau of Investigation announced that all the terrorists were killed, contradicting an earlier report by the New York Police Department (NYPD).
The NYPD had said in December that all the attackers could have escaped.
But in an interview published on the FBI’s website, the Bureau’s legal attaché in Nairobi, Mr Dennis Brady, said none of the four terrorists escaped from the mall.
The FBI account is consistent with the Kenya government position.
Kenyans are, however, still waiting for a report from a forensic audit ordered at the end of the three-day siege.
A commission of inquiry into the attack promised by President Uhuru Kenyatta is yet to be formed.
