Fifa orders FKF to withdraw court case

Fifa has ordered Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to withdraw a court case against the Kenyan Premier League body and officials, even as the world body intensified the search for a solution to the four-month old impasse between the two bodies.

The impasse has since degenerated into a full blown crisis occasioned by confusion in the wake of the formation of two parallel top flight football leagues.

Fifa’s message to the Kenyan FA was delivered by its head of delegation to Nairobi, Kwesi Nyantakyi, who doubles up as the Ghana FA President, ahead of the latest round of mediation talks.

“They will need to withdraw from court and submit to the authority from Fifa” Kwesi told the Ghana media.

“It (solving this problem) is not easy.” He added.

“There is no particular solution because of the personal, political, commercial and legal interests involved. But we have an ultimatum to secure a way forward, obviously with the support of all Kenyans.”

Meanwhile FKF and KPL officials will publicly meet at a round table on Monday evening for the first time since the Governement commissioned talks collapsed in February.

The two factions are expected to outline their proposals on the way forward to the Fifa team led by Kwesi, Fifa development officer Ashford Mamelodi, and Fifa’s head of Member Associations Primo Carvaro at the Norfolk Hotel.
