First ever Mr and Miss Albinism to be held in Nairobi

In an effort to fight the stigma associated with albinism, the Albinism Society of Kenya (ASK) will next week organise the first ever Mr and Miss Albinism in Nairobi.

The event that will run under the banner “Beauty Beyond The Skin” will be held on October 21 at the Carnivore grounds with Deputy President William Ruto as the chief guest.

Through this charity event, ASK intends to raise money to support other existing programs that they are running including Imarisha Masomo, Miwani Mashinani, Linda Ngozi, Cancer treatment, counselling services among others.

Funds raised during the event will also be used for the provision of sunscreen lotion which helps in prevention of skin cancer. The lotions retail at Sh 2,000 per bottle.

Tickets for the event are retailing at Sh1,000 (regular) and Sh3,000 (VIP).

Formed in 2006, ASK seeks social inclusion for persons with Albinism, addressing all violation of their human rights, as well as championing for better medical services in light of the challenges that are characteristic of the condition.
