Flashy businessman ‘Money Mike’ to be buried Tuesday

Flashy Nairobi businessman Mike Gathecha, popularly known to his close friends as ‘Money Mike’ will be laid to rest on Tuesday at his family home in Juja.

Gathecha died in a grisly road accident on Thika Superhighway last weekend.

Reports indicate that his car rammed into a stationary lorry during the night accident.


Gathecha, who is related to President Uhuru Kenyatta, operated a chain of business, including the famous Juja Capital Centre club and was a partner in some of the flashy clubs in Nairobi.

He drove top of the range vehicles with customized number plates.

He was mostly known for his philanthropic ways as well as a flashy lifestyle too.

Roselyn Opel described him as “quiet, kind, always laughing, very thoughtful-who would make sure I have transport from the estate to class and he would offer to bring me back with a smile as he went out to ‘run some errands’ as he called them, late comer to class (always with a reason), always with a snack in hand and ready to share.”
