Flaunt fest: Kenyan celebs and their love for bragging about expensive meals
In a world where social media feeds are often filled with glitz and glamour, it comes as no surprise that celebrities tend to showcase their opulent lifestyles. From luxurious cars to extravagant vacations, their extravagance knows no bounds.
However, there’s one aspect of their lives that has captured the attention of Kenyan netizens – their unapologetic bragging about the exorbitantly priced meals they’ve indulged in.
From breakfast to lunch, these celebrities have shared photos of their receipts flaunting the sumptuous feasts and drinks they have taken and how much they cost.
Andrew Kibe – The controversial radio presenter cum content creator is the latest on the list. Kibe recently flaunted his $187.02 bill (Sh26,039) that he spent on lunch. The former Kiss 100 presenter shared on his Twitter page that he had the meal consisting of nyama kaanga, nyama choma, mimosa pitcher, fried sweet plantains, and spinach at a Kenyan-owned joint in Washington DC.
“Cheki bill oh ya! Watu wawili na hakuna ata ugali Sosa? Kenyan-owned joint in the heart of Washington DC. Service is excellent and the food reminds one of home. Nice joint…8/10,” he tweeted.

Vera Sidika – In 2021, the socialite took to her Insta-stories to share a lunch bill at Sankara Hotel. The bill of a whooping Sh59,200 caught the attention of Kenyans on Twitter who wondered how one could spend such an amount in one sitting.
The group had indulged in some 3 Mayers St, 2 Arabella sweet, 6 T-Bone steak, 5 whipped potatoes, 1 garden spinach, 2 tonic water, 1 chunk fruit, and a Tanqueray Bott.
Akothee – Last year, while on a trip to France, the Kenyan singer posted a video on her Instagram platform revealing that she had just spent Sh18,000 on lunch. The singer, who had been accompanied by her daughter Rue Baby, was heard being advised not to spend more on food.
Shocked by her mother’s spending, Rue said: “If you finish the money I have withdrawn, I am not withdrawing any more. When you go somewhere you drink small quantities.”
Miracle Baby – The former Sailors member sparked a heated debate after flaunting an Sh87,930 bill that he spent on alcoholic drinks, energy drinks and water. In a video posted on his Instagram stories, Miracle Baby could be seen gleefully showing off the receipt.
However, in the background, his girlfriend, Carol Katrue, was heard lecturing him on his extravagant spending, “Babe hizi ndio pesa ulitumia jana, (Is this how much you spent yesterday?).”
To this Miracle Baby replied in the affirmative, saying it was because his friends had come over.
