Foreign Ministry to set record straight on President Kenyatta’s trip to Nigeria
The Foreign Affairs Ministry is scheduled to hold a media briefing Thursday afternoon to set the record straight on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s planned trip to Abuja for the inauguration of Nigeria’s president-elect Muhammadu Buhari.
News of Mr Kenyatta’s planned trip has caused a storm in Kenya after it emerged that the president is set to travel with a 84-strong delegation.
Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho told Nairobi News that he would address a press conference on the matter Thursday afternoon.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the head of state might instead send his deputy William Ruto with a leaner team following the hue and cry from Kenyans, who have questioned the government’s commitment to observe austerity measures to check high government recurrent expenditure.
