Funds drive to assist struggling Ayuko launched
Former Kenyan international Noah Ayuko is the latest in a swelling list of ex-footballers to slip into a financial mess.
The Nairobi News exclusively highlighted Ayuko’s plight recently, but the situation has since gotten out of hand.
Reports have it that the former Oserian Fastac and Karuturi Sports custodian, who famously stood in between the sticks when Kenya beat Burkina Faso in a competitive match in Nairobi back in 1998, has slipped into depression.
He has also become an alcoholic, even as he sells local brew in downtown Kakamega, having failed to fend for his himself and family.
FUNDS DRIVE
So dire is the situation that Ayuko’s former colleague Boniface Ambani has launched a funds drive in his aid.
“I talked to him personally and he told me he needs help. So I have decided to mobilize my friends and foes. We will identify a business of his choice,” Ambani, an ex-international striker, who currently is a coach and marketing executive, explained.
Ambani, who played professionally in India and Tanzania, has dubbed the drive “Noah Rescue Mission.”
