Former UK ambassador to Kenya Jane Marriott appointed Pakistan envoy
Former British High Commissioner to Kenya Jane Marriot has been appointed the new ambassador to Pakistan.
The United Kingdom made the announcement Thursday, stating that Marriott will succeed Dr Christian Turner CMG, who has been transferred to another Diplomatic Service position.
Interestingly, Mariott succeeded Turner in Kenya when she was deployed in 2019.
“I am delighted to be appointed as the next British High Commissioner to Pakistan. Britain and Pakistan are linked by heritage, strong people-to-people links, climate cooperation and growing trade. The ties of friendship and the Commonwealth can ensure a prosperous future,” she tweeted.

According to the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Marriott will assume her new role in July 2023.
“Ms Marriott will take up her appointment during July 2023,” UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office announced.
Marriott previously served as the British Ambassador to Yemen from 2013 to 2015. She also held the position of Director of the Joint International Counter-Terrorism Unit from 2016 to 2019.

She was the first female UK envoy to Kenya, serving from September 2019 to April this year.
Her successor in Kenya will be Neil Wigan, who is expected to assume his role in July 2023.
Prior to her current role, Marriott was director of the UK’s Joint International Counter-Terrorism Unit from 2016 to 2019. She also served as British Ambassador to Yemen from 2013 to 2015.
She has also held key roles in other Middle Eastern countries, including Afghanistan, Iraq and Baghdad, as well as serving in the Americas and Africa.
