Fuel pump prices drop

Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has reduced fuel pump prices in its latest monthly review.

In Nairobi, the price of Super petrol will drop by Sh3.40 a litre to retail at Sh108.87. Diesel will retail at Sh103.25, down by Sh1.22.

Kerosene, used mostly for lighting and cooking, will drop by Sh2.22 to retail at Sh82.79

The new prices take effect from Friday November 15th to 14th December.

ERC attributed the drop in prices to reduced prices of oil in the world market and a strong performance of the Kenyan shilling against the US dollar.

“The average landed cost of imported super petrol decreased by 2.81 percent between September and October 2013. Diesel increased by 0.31 and kerosene by 0.16 percent,” ERC acting director general Frederick Nyang said in a statement on Thursday.
