Gachagua: Ex-DCI Kinoti ordered for Dennis Itumbi’s death

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has sensationally claimed that former Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti ordered for the murder of veteran blogger Dennis Itumbi.

Speaking at a church thanksgiving in Kerugoya, Kirinyaga county, DP Gachagua gave thanks to God that Itumbi, a journalist and close ally of President William Ruto, managed to escape with his life following a reported abduction in December 2021.

“This young man was marked for death,” said Gachagua, while pointing at a smiling Itumbi.

“This young man’s death had been planned. A command came. Kinoti sent his boys to pick him up. He was bundled into a car, they removed his nails, hurt his knees and did some inhumane things to him,” claimed Gachagua.

Gachagua claims the Police started discussing how to kill Itumbi before Kinoti changed his mind following an uproar on social media.

“Kinoti then called the officers and inquired whether they had already murdered him. He asked them not to.”

In that particular incident, Itumbi went missing after he was reportedly picked up by unknown men at Thindigwa in Kiambu County.

The blogger is said to have been forced into a Toyota Premio vehicle after leaving a barbershop. His disappearance spread like a bush fire with his brother tweeting that he had found him in the hospital hours later.

President Ruto announced that Kinoti had resigned from his DCI role days after assuming office.

But the Head of State changed tune weeks later, claiming he had fired the DCI boss after he was involved in a number of extra judicial killings.
