Through their lawyers Cliff Ombeta and Hezron Oundu, they claimed they had sustained injuries during the arrest and wanted to be taken to hospital for treatment.

They also claimed that police took away their personal effects including mobile phones and cash.

“The accused would like to be taken to police to register the complaint,” said Mr Ombeta in his application.

The court directed the defence to make an inventory of all the items alleged to have been taken by the police and present it to the prosecution to respond.

Ms Nderitu also rejected an application by the prosecution to deny the accused bail, saying no evidence had been tendered to support the application and that the objection had no basis.
