Gikomba woman kills trader with a fork jembe in deal gone sour


A woman on Thursday night killed a trader after hitting him on the head with a fork jembe at Gorofani estate in Gikomba.

According to the police, the woman Safina Aluku, who is at large, picked up the jembe and hit 45 year-old Charles Omolo Otieno on the head.

The two had quarrelled on a goodwill fee the man was supposed to pay Ms Aluku for a business premise.

The victim was rushed to hospital by well-wishers but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The matter was reported at Buru Buru police station and the body taken to city mortuary.

In Kasarani, police arrested two men and a woman who had kidnaped a young man.

RANSOM DEMAND

The victim’s father reported to the police after he received a ransom demand from the kidnapers.

Mr John Kiongo, who resides in Kirinyaga sub-county, received a call demanding that he sends Sh50,000 for his son to be released.

Police traced the phone number to Sunton area, in Kasarani, where they found the suspects in a house and arrested them.

The three, Muiru Kuria, 50, Dennis Githinji, 25, and Catherine Nyanguthi, 34, are in police custody waiting to be arraigned in court and charged with kidnaping.

The victim was slightly injured on the head.
