Ex-diplomat Gilad to host major concert
Big names in the Kenyan music industry are expected at grace a major concert on Saturday that has been organized by Gilad Millo, who is famous for the Unajua hit.
Gilad, who is also a former deputy head of mission at the Israeli Embassy in Kenya, has collaborated with an Israeli non-profit organization, Israel for Africa to organised the concert.
All proceeds from the concert, which will be staged at the Water Front Gardens – Jockey Club, Race Course, will go towards supporting Israel for Africa’s Youth Empowerment Program in Kenya.
Gilad, who was once a journalist before becoming a diplomat in 2003, decided to settle in Kenya permanently in 2008 after his mission ended.
HIT SINGLE
The ex-diplomat released his first single Unajua with Wendy Kimani who rose to fame after featuring in a local singing competition.
Gilad followed up the first hit with Sema Milele which has become Kenya’s unofficial wedding song.
The concert has lined up several musicians who will be performing for free as their contribution towards the initiative.
The lineup includes Wendy Kimani, Juliani, Ammi, Dela, Wahu, Eric Wainaina, and H-art the Band backed up by Superband.
A number of top DJs will also be the decks to entertain the crowd including DJ Pierra, DJ Wesley, and DJ Joe Mfalme.
Advance regular tickets for the event are going for Sh800 while advance VIP tickets are going for Sh2,000.
