Gloria Muliro and new-husband announce plans to open a church in New York
Kenyan gospel musician Gloria Muliro, a recent transplant to the United States of America, announced plans to plant a church in New Rochelle, New York State.
In a video posted on 23 August, 2022, to social media, Muliro and her husband, Evans Sabwami said, “we have good news for you!”
“Praise the Lord, praise the Lord. We are Pastor and Mrs. Sabwami and we are excited to come to you at this hour with a very special announcement.
We are embarking on a church planting mission in the city of New Rochelle. This city is about 30 minutes north of New York city.
So if you live in the environs of New Rochelle, please, you are very welcome on the 17th of September, 2022, from 4 pm- even if you are from surrounding states, you are welcome,” said the duo.
“The church will be planted on 70 Church Street, New Rochelle and the couple invited everyone to, “come and see what the Lord is doing in the land of New Rochelle.” The church is called Lovestream Church.
Gloria Muliro permanently relocated to the United States of America following her surprise wedding to her husband a Kenyan who also has American citizenship.
Sabwami is also an engineer and graphics design artist. The wedding was held 43 weeks ago in a simple ceremony.
The new marriage news was received in equal parts happiness and scorn. Many congratulated Gloria for her new marriage, with some quoting the Bible on how God restores everything a person loses to the locusts.
Some, however, claimed Gloria had sinned in marrying someone else despite her ex-husband still being alive; and said God frowned on divorce in its totality.
The vitriol was attributed to the failure of her first marriage to Pastor Erick Omba six years ago after allegations of infidelity on Omba’s part became public knowledge.
He denied the allegations, claimed that he cried and begged Gloria to return home to him; and when this failed, he attempted to blame Gloria for their failed marriage.
Pastor Omba heads the Omba Ministries Prayer Community Church in Nairobi, off Kayole Spine Road.
