Kalonzo ‘hands over’ Wiper defectors to Uhuru at Mashujaa fete


Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday tackled the Jubilee administration officially handing over the Wiper Democratic Movement MPs who defected to the new party.

Musyoka, who was given a chance to address the nation by the Deputy President William Ruto duirng the Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, said the opposition and Jubilee should fight on ideologies adding that he had gifted the new Jubilee Party with the defectors.

The Wiper leader said he would not take any ultimatums from defectors adding that it would not be a surprise if they are all voted out in next year’s general election.

Ruto in his brief remarks to the former Vice President said Jubilee Party can only wish Cord well as they try to unite their party.

FIGHT AGAINST GRAFT

President Uhuru Kenyatta started his address with remarks on the politics of the day saying he is the President of all Kenyans including Mr Kalonzo stating, “Hata wewe ni wangu.”

The President then went on with his Mashujaa Day address with the highlight of his speech being the freeing of 7,000 prisoners jailed for petty offences.

During his address the President said he would create space for corrupt officials in Kenyan prisons by freeing petty offenders so that the Judiciary can speed up corruption cases.

The move was a follow up to the President’s address during the State House Summit on Governance and Accountability where he said he had done all in his power to fight graft.
