Godec: Corrupt Kenyans will not be allowed to visit the US

The United States Government will continue denying visas to Kenyans who are deemed corrupt, US Ambassador Robert Godec said has said.

Speaking to Citizen TV on Thursday, Godec said corruption has undermined security and the growth of the Kenyan economy and it is critical for Kenyans to fight this vice.

“We acknowledge that a number of people have been prosecuted over corruption related issues but a lot more needs to happen. For example, we need a strong system so that for example you can track what happens to your money. We should also have independent and quick investigations and those found guilty should go to prison or other punishments handed to them,” Mr Godec said.

“I will also continue denying visas to the US for Kenyans who are deemed corrupt,” he added.

Corruption is fast becoming the Jubilee Government’s biggest headache with estimates suggesting that upto Sh250 billion has been lost in corruption related cases since President Uhuru Kenyatta’s election in 2013.
