Gor, Leopards to face Simba and Yanga in international competition

Kenya’s top two football clubs will face their Tanzanian equivalent in a four team international tournament in June.

Nairobi News understands that record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia will accompany AFC Leopards to Tanzania’s capital Dar es Salaam, the venue of the competition.

While there, the sides will face Tanzania champions Yanga and runners up Simba.

Besides statistically dominating in their respective leagues, Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Simba and Yanga are also among the most popular and successful clubs in the East and Central African region.

The tournament will be an assembling point of sorts of some of the biggest football talents in East Africa, with the likes of Jacques Tuyisenge, Musa Mohammed, Gilbert Fiamenyo, Mungai Kiongera, Simon Msuva, Aubrey Chirwa and Laudvit Mavogo.

The tourney’s fixtures are yet to be released as well as the prize money.

It will take place less than a month since SportPesa announced sponsorship deals with the Tanzanian duo.

SportPesa also boasts separate sponsorship arrangements with AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia.
